Available Heat Pump Rebates & Grants

The following programs are currently available to help Atlantic Canadians reduce the cost of heat pump installation. Click each link to visit the official program page and apply.

Nova Scotia

  • Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Program (OHPA) – Up to $15,000 for income-qualifying homeowners switching from oil to a cold-climate heat pump. Funded by the Government of Canada. Note: Funding is limited and expected to run out in early 2026 — apply soon.
  • HomeWarming Program – Free energy efficiency upgrades for qualifying low-income homeowners, including heat pumps.
  • Moderate Income Rebate – Rebates for qualified homeowners to help cover the costs of energy efficiency upgrades.
  • Home Energy Assessment – Identify energy inefficiencies and access rebates and interest-free loans for upgrades including heat pumps.

New Brunswick

  • Oil to Heat Pump Affordability (OHPA) – Federal program via SaveEnergyNB. Income over $70,000: up to $15,000 advance through Total Home Energy Savings Program. Income $70,000 and under: free upgrades through the Enhanced Energy Savings Program.
  • Total Home Energy Savings Program – Rebates for whole-home energy efficiency upgrades including heat pumps. Oil-heating homeowners with income over $70,000 may receive up to $15,000 in advance.
  • Enhanced Energy Savings Program – Free heat pump and energy efficiency upgrades for households heating with oil and earning $70,000 or under.
